💔 The new SoS for Health, Wes Streeting, has said the NHS is broken.❤️ The new Prime Minster, Keir Starmer has promised to reset relations with devolved governments.❣ And in an interview with the Daily Mirror: https://lnkd.in/eqSmB9Ny which touches on the National Maternity Inquiry petition, I detail how maternity and early years issues can be resolved across all four of Britain's nations. Maternity and early years should not be devolved matters. Women are suffering the same health inequalities and prejudices in Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland. Babies are coming to harm or dying because of the same mistakes and challenges in Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland. Children are being born into households impacted by the same critical, life expectancy shortening problems in Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland. I’ve been asked to interview for an article about how we keep babies and new mothers safe … of course the focus is Letby … my focus is far wider because the issues that affect maternity safety, whilst older than me, have been exacerbated and compounded and enabled and overlooked by this government. The last 14 years of erosion summed up in 4 minutes. And I don’t care if you don’t agree with me. That’s why we get to vote. So…vote.

Tomorrow night (Monday 24th June) Dispatches airs. It has been secretly filming inside the Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital’s (SaTH) A&E department. The footage, captured over months by an undercover journalist for Channel 4, exposes the suffering and dangers patients face on a daily basis.Seriously ill patients left on chairs for days, others lying neglected on trolleys, and yet this is a hospital trust that has arguably had more support than so many others, thanks initially to the acute focus on its maternity services from the Ockenden Review and all the support that brought, then with government and NHS leaders’ ongoing scrutiny. (Chief Nurse, Dame Ruth May even visited earlier this month)So, if SaTH is this bad, how bad is your acute hospital trust?Presumably, Dispatches could have chosen any A&E department?Well, we shall see tomorrow…at 9pm on C4.In the latest petition update we summarise our concerns for the NHS' future as no single political party's plans add up.
